We’re Excited About SQL Server 2019, Here’s Why

By | Azure
Microsoft SQL Server 2019 is out in preview and it’s got some exciting new features. When Microsoft announced the release at their Ignite 2018 conference on Sept 24th, we couldn’t wait to see what was in store. This newest offering will continue to build on the solid foundation of SQL servers while expanding offerings of flexibility and further embracing big data by adding support for Kubernetes, Apache Spark, and Hadoop clusters. Embraces Big Data – Probably the biggest change to SQL 2019 is the ability to manage big data clusters. Big data has always been a bit of a gap in the arsenal of Microsoft’s SQL servers, but not anymore. With SQL 2019, Microsoft is fully embracing big data with Kubernetes. Kubernetes is an open-source container-based platform that represents exciting new possibilities for this SQL engine. With SQL on Kubernetes you will be able to can create high availability solutions with Linux containers and manage multiple data sources all in one place. Manage Relational and Non-Relational Data – The new engine can query data from a number of different sources, including relational and non-relational data storage. Microsoft has built in native support of Apache Spark and Hadoop Distributed File System (more…)

2018 Trends for Database and Data Management – Six Months Later (Trend 1)

By | Database Technology Trends
Enterprise database platforms are expected to expand beyond traditional relational database models to include non-relational alternative models   Read about Trend 2 Six months in, it seems quaint now to say that the world of non-relational data has exploded. Customers now expect general purpose database platforms will support a whole new level of workloads and functions. This is driven in part by the emergence of the non-relational technologies of NoSQL and Hadoop and the creative force to extract new value from data. The new standard is the ability to use multiple data types, video, graph and spatial capabilities, in addition to data virtualization and data virtualization support. Real time data analysis is now the norm and no longer the exception. Six months in, is it safe to say we are at the acceptance level of this trend but implementation and vision remains another matter?  Want to find out more about how your company can leverage the power of non-relational data and your database platform?   Join Dobler Consulting and Anthony Antonello, VP, SAP HANA Global Center of Excellence, for a Live Webinar June 19th, 2018 @ 2:00 PM EDT for: SAP Sybase Roadmap 2018 View Video Replay and Download Presentation (more…)

SAP Sybase Replication Server 15.6 | Real Time Loading into SAP Sybase IQ

By | White Papers | No Comments

SAP Sybase has developed a new, innovative and dynamic staging technology, allowing full use of the native, high-speed data load mechanism SAP Sybase IQ offers . . . Real Time Loading (RTL).

RTL addresses the need to have another system prepare the data for load by taking real time data movement from the source database, and applying staging technology to the data transfer in the background.

Up until now, the only option for loading data from an Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) database . . . airline reservation systems, financial transactions, etc., into a SAP Sybase IQ data warehouse was a so-called staging process. Staging means that the OLTP is isolated from the data warehouse loading process to ensure data integrity, due to the rapidly changing data content in the OLTP database systems.

Direct replication into SAP Sybase IQ was limited to low data movement environments. The reason lies in the fundamental differences on how SAP Sybase IQ processes data, and data movement strategies SAP Sybase Replication Server applies.

SAP Sybase IQ is a column vector database. Retrieving a single row requires assembling the row from each column component. This process makes row by row processing ineffective, and the so- called “trickle feed” loading of SAP Sybase IQ nearly impossible. The advantage of a column vector database is in the unmatched speed for complex data retrieval operations and data aggregation on huge data sets.

This is a recording of the Webcast “What’s New In SAP Replication Server 15.7.1 SP100” we held July 25th 2013.

Join us for a Webcast on July 25, 2013, to learn about support for SAP HANA, SAP Data Services, and more.

New from SAP Sybase Replication Server: We now offer support for

  • Real-time transactional replication into SAP HANA for non-SAP applications
  • Real-time change data capture (CDC) for SAP Data Services
  • Disaster recovery for SAP Business Suite applications running on SAP Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (SAP Sybase ASE)
  • Plus, great new features for current customers

Learn about these new options and other features for existing SAP Replication Server customers during our Webcast. We’ll show you how the new version of SAP Replication Server replicates transactional data for non-SAP applications in real-time directly into SAP HANA – without slowing or disrupting the systems that are running the business – to create a real real-time analytics solution.

And for customers running SAP Business Suite on SAP Sybase ASE, we now have a solution that reduces both planned and unplanned downtime using SAP Replication Server.

Take advantage of this opportunity to learn how your organization can build a better real-time analytics solution and better protect your SAP Business Suite data.
