What Sets Oracle’s Second-Generation Cloud Infrastructure Apart?

By | Blog, Oracle
Oracle launched their innovative Next-Generation Cloud Infrastructure at the Oracle Open World conference last October, and it’s been getting rave reviews ever since – changing the ways in which businesses can move to and operate in the Cloud. Oracle’s Gen 2 Cloud was built from the ground up to better accommodate enterprise functions, leverage a business’ existing technology, and optimize security – all while maximizing performance and cutting costs. So, how it is different from the first-generation Cloud? Oracle’s Second-Generation Cloud Infrastructure rises above older Cloud technologies because it was developed with the following capabilities and features in mind. Accommodates Enterprise-Level Workloads Previously, clouds were built for primarily web-based applications; they were not designed for traditional enterprise systems. Many enterprise workloads – often bulky, complex, and deployed on-premise – couldn’t easily be migrated or wouldn’t function in a Gen 1 virtual environment. Kyle York, Oracle’s VP, said in a recent Q&A, “First generation public cloud offerings were not architected to accommodate traditional application architectures. They were architected for net-new cloud native applications. Think websites, mobile apps, or ecommerce storefronts—certainly not financial systems, government workloads, or data-intensive applications.” In fact, a Forrester Study showed that only 15%-30% of enterprise workloads have (more…)

Oracle E-Business Suite is a fantastic suite of applications designed for the enterprise client to facilitate data management and analytics. The group of tools brings exciting possibilities to the Oracle client. But there’s more. The introduction of Analyzers as proactive tools improves performance and reduces troubleshooting headaches for the EBS client. If you’re using Oracle EBS, it’s time to check out the available Analyzers. What are Analyzers? These tools are essentially diagnostic support tools that can help not only identify issues but also suggest corrective action. They are designed to work alongside your current maintenance program to boost its effectiveness and your productivity. Containers are In – Azure Can Help

By | Azure
Application development and deployment has come a long way in recent years. The introduction of containers opens the door for more lightweight, portable, scalable development. Add to that the capabilities of Kubernetes clusters and you get a new level of efficiency when managing application development, testing, and deployment. If your team is actively using Linux containers and Kubernetes clusters, it’s important to make sure your database products are supporting your efforts. Microsoft Azure has been helping its clients utilize and manage containers with Azure Container Service (ACS), now taking it a step further with the development of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Why Containers? Containers have tons of benefits for API development. They are basically self-contained instances that run natively on your OS, maintaining configuration settings across multiple platforms. Imagine your developers working on an API on their laptop, which has one set of configurations, and then sending to another developer for review. Will the other environment behave exactly the same way? Impossible to know. With virtualization, you can eliminate these issues, but this is taxing on your system. Containers are lightweight so that you can run multiple containers on your machine without experiencing performance issues. Remember, these are running natively, (more…)

Connecting Devices Securely With the Azure Sphere

By | Azure
Customer experience is rising in importance for businesses these days, and one of the primary factors that customers value is efficiency. As more and more devices become connected, creating the Internet of Things (IOT), companies and products are able to provide enhanced services that can significantly improve the customer experience. The benefits of connectivity are clear, as are the roadblocks. Until recently, security was one of the biggest obstacles to overcome. That’s all changing with Microsoft’s new end-to-end solution, the Azure Sphere. It’s about Connecting those MCUs Microcontrollers are all around us, in toasters, ovens, microwaves, cars, thermostats, remotes, etc. These consumer products use what are essentially dedicated mini-computers, CPUs designed with specific tasks to achieve. These MCUs can be connected to the internet to improve performance, adapt to our interactions, and enhance customer experience, but very few of these MCUs are currently connected. This is because connectivity creates vulnerability for the device. Security breaches by bad actors can have disastrous results, and many companies have been staying away from the risk. But Microsoft was determined to create an environment that would allow companies to securely reap the benefits of connectivity with peace of mind. The development of the Azure (more…)
