Sybase
Announcements
As of September 2010, Dobler Consulting has been designated by Sybase as a Sybase System Integrator. This allows us to work more closely with Sybase and its clients, as well as the added benefit of Sybase Tech Support through our service offerings. Please read more about this announcement in our news section.
The migration of SAP R/3 is in full swing and the first beta release is planned for May 2011. Later this summer the next beta release is scheduled and before year end, SAP on Sybase ASE will be a reality. Sybase will release a new ASE version for this event as well, Sybase ASE 15.7. Also known as the SAP release. You can expect many Oracle type enhancements to natively support SAP R/3.
We are working actively to broaden our services into SAP product line to further enhance our Sybase System Integrator status. This added value will benefit new and current SAP clients who are opting for Sybase ASE as its database system.

Sybase TechWave 2011
This year's TechWave was co-hosted with SAP TechED in Las Vegas. The size of the event became clear when attending the keynote address Tuesday morning. A total of 6,500 people attended, 700 for TechWave and 5,800 for TechED. On a positive note, the SAP leadership reiterated the importance and the strategic value of Sybase in the SAP family. This is encouraging, especially to those who have mixed and reserved feelings towards the sale of Sybase to SAP last year. I've always viewed this as a positive move for Sybase and my instincts seem to get confirmed.

Sybase IQ is one of the fastest growing market segments of Sybase and perhaps in the industry. The revolutionary column vector database beats traditional relational databases hands down. It even surpasses Oracle's OLAP by providing the flexibility to benefit from a column vector database engine without the need to migrate a relational data model to a dimensional OLAP model.

Sybase ASE Cluster Edition
Please read the following announcement on Sybase's new cluster edition for its flagship database Sybase ASE. This is Sybase's answer to Oracle's RAC system.
We think that Sybase ASE CE has the potential to surpass Oracle RAC. While Oracle has to please too many interest groups and therefore packs more functionality into the RAC system, Sybase can keep it lean and clean. The first edition of Sybase ASE CE is very stable, and subsequent releases promise more bang for the buck than Oracle.
Once you completed the Step-By-Step Sybase ASE CE Installation guide, you will see what the hype is really about.
